Welcome to the Peterborough Museum Society.

Peterborough Museum Society was founded in 1871 as the Peterborough Natural History Society and Field Club and began to collect items which would eventually become the core collections of what is today Peterborough Museum. In 1968 the museum, housed in the Priestgate building, was presented to the City of Peterborough.

The society meets at the Museum during the winter for monthly lectures covering its wide interests: local history and archaeology; conservation and natural history; literature and fine arts.

The society promotes and publish paper of research and has a comprehensive list of publications. We aim to provide interesting and engaging activities for our members and support the work of Peterborough Museum.
